Field Intensified PM Machine for an HEV Application

In this project a special variant of a permanent-magnet assisted synchronous reluctance machine will be designed with a higher direct-axis inductance compared to its quadrature-axis inductance. A parameterized description of the machine properties will be used to analyze the presumed improvements with respect to the electric drive system. By means of FE-calculations, a proposed machine topology will be investigated in terms of  torque and power density and energy efficiency in selected drive cycles. The results will be compared with a conventional V-shape IPM.
